The 3 Common questions about hiring a coach.

On the fence about hiring a coach?

Even after I qualified I still sat on the fence before undertaking a program with my coach, who happened to be my trainer - I know the hesitation and the procrastination!

There are many reasons we sit idle on our self development & growth, mainly that we know we are about to step out of our comfort zone - the only place we can have meaningful growth.

The rational brain will tell us many reasons why we don’t need to make a decision which is only human, and its ok too.

  1. The first one comes from managers ….

    “What if I pay for coaching and my employee leaves?”

Answer ;

I cannot tell you how many times I am asked this question & this is usually a fear that their people will find something within themselves that no longer aligns with the role.

A coaching program is likely to enhance their potential, performance, confidence, team engagement and visibility of your people.

When your people are confident, happy and free of old limits they will thrive in their role and make your team even more successful.

They will shine in a new way that improves the team culture, the team results & the team performance - you will see a new confidence, clarity & connection to their best self.

If members leave after a coaching program that investment has served to move them on in a positive way rather than hold them in a position they are no longer suited to - so the position can be filled by somebody who is.

2. The issue or block always happens, but then it passes, do I really need coaching?

ANSWER;

Repeated patterns, behaviours & issues happen because of our programming - more specifically a ‘Gestalt Pattern’ which is the repeating triggering of these issues, behaviours & emotions about them.

We do tend to get past them & can learn from them, its when we notice their impact on our life that we tend to start listening - perhaps we grow tired of the trigger or the set back and want to change?

Short answer is NO …. nobody NEEDS coaching, we can survive & keep going with these patterns, many of us do.

The people that undertake coaching, particularly my clients are ready to think beyond their limits and develop into who they came here to be.

They want to find the best version of themselves and begin to thrive in their work, performance, life & relationships.

They are open minded & intuitive to their self development so they are ready to move past what has repeatedly held them back - even if they are unable to identify it (I can help with that!)

3. Why should I be the one to do coaching when its other people or situations that are impacting me?

ANSWER;

The short answer to this one is that we cannot control or push others into any kind of development if they are not ready or willing.

We are often surrounded by people who impact us in a negative way such as work, family, neighbours.

If we are impacted in a negative way by others, we tend to focus on that impact & become consumed by it.

One question my clients know very well is ‘what are you projecting into this situation?’.

If we are impacted we must be relating in some way to the person or situation - it is triggering something within.

Its almost as if the situation is a very negative (and annoying) signpost to our growth - It’s like somehow the universe is throwing this person or situation at us to show us where to grow.

Again and again and again ……. until we notice our part in the situation.

We can continue to live in the impact or we can choose to grow through it by working on our own ‘side of the fence’ - those triggers that keep us participating in the situation.

I have many corporate clients who began their program because of conflict at work - only to end up being the most trusted & impactful leaders within their team…. they stopped participating and found their best self along the way!
