Learn plenty from 2020

We all know that 2020 has had its share of suffering, hardship and loss.

Many people have endured more this year than ever in their lifetime.

So what can we take from this year to help us in the future - how can we commence next year with a sense of appreciation for the tough year we have had?

Tough times certainly test our strength, our patience and our humanity - this year has certainly tested us. Tough times can also build us in ways we never thought possible, they can make us more patient, wise and compassionate to others. They can help us to reflect on what we really are capable of, how resilient we are and how much we still have to learn.

If you are able to find a curious, open mindset you can find plenty of learnings from this year, learnings that have the potential to change the tone of what we thought 2020 has been. Instead of writing the year off, perhaps we can see it as the year of our profound personal, professional and human growth.

Begin with some questions to yourself that are directed at finding an open mind into the positives of 2020…

What or who are you grateful for from 2020?

What 3 things have you learnt from 2020?

What are you most proud of that helped you or others this year?

What 3 words do you want to describe your 2021?

Having some appreciation for what we have learnt will allow us to overcome the struggles and to find a growth mindset for beginning 2021.

Take a moment now to appreciate what you have learnt personally, professionally and about humanity.
